Doha/Heidelberg, Jan 15, 2015: In response to the growing safety and security challenges now facing sport, the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) and SRH University Heidelberg in Germany have teamed up to launch the first International Advanced Studies Programme on Sport Safety and Security Management.
Beginning in May 2015, the first edition of the programme will offer an ideal opportunity for major event organisers and professionals in sport to enhance their career in what is a growing, global and complex area of the sport industry. Providing a modern and effective approach to learning, the programme will combine practical and theoretical elements to further develop existing skills and equip participants for the future challenges in sport safety and security management.
Spread across two semesters including three four-day on-site modules and designed for major event organisers, safety and security managers, private security companies and stadium managers, the International Advanced Studies Programme on Sport Safety and Security Management will explore a range of key topics in sport safety and security, including:
• Best Practice and Developing Trends and Techniques in Sport Safety and Security
• Legal Requirements and Implications in Major Event Safety and Security
• Cutting-Edge Techniques to Deliver a Safe, Secure and Successful Major Sport Event
• Risk Analysis and Risk Assessment
• Mitigation and Prevention Methods

In line with the ICSS’s commitment to training and education in the area of sport safety, security and integrity, the International Advanced Studies Programme on Sport Safety and Security Management follows on from successful training courses held by the ICSS in Qatar and Germany and will see ICSS’s Sport Safety and Security experts work alongside leading professors from SRH University Heidelberg to share with students their experiences of securing some of the world’s top sports venues and major events.
