AFC: Ten-year plan for Social Responsibility

Abu Dhabi, April 06, 2012: The AFC Social Responsibility Committee has agreed to collaborate with streetfootballworld to develop a ten-year plan for AFC’s Social Responsibility and develop strategic partnerships with organisations around the world.

FIFA Vice-President HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, who chaired the meeting held in conjunction with the AFC Dream Asia Cerebral Palsy Tournament, said: “I have confidence that the CSR department will implement the ten-year CSR strategy. AFC will certainly set a model in social responsibility in football as we move forward with this strategy.

“We are also proud to partner with streetfootballworld given their experience in promoting and advancing social development through football,” added HRH Prince Ali.

Founded in 2002, streetfootballworld has a network of 80 organisations around 50 countries, which use football to help young people overcome challenges like poverty, discrimination and lack of education.

“I am very proud of the noble work AFC is undertaking in its Dream Asia programme, notably this tournament in Abu Dhabi,” said HRH Prince Ali.

“Football is indeed for all and we all have a responsibility in the football family to highlight this message not only in words but also in deeds.”

The members were informed about the AFC Social Responsibility activities during various AFC events, including the AFC Challenge Cup in Nepal, AFC U-14 Festival in China, AFC U-13 Girls Competition in Sri Lanka and the AFC Champions League.

The members also discussed proposals from AFC’s partners Reach Out to Asia (ROTA). All the decisions of this committee need to be ratified by the AFC Executive Committee.
