Egyptian Gymnastics, UNEXPECTED PASSING

LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, June 7, 2012: Ghanem Morsi Ghanem, The Family of Gymnastics is in mourning; Dr. Ghanem M. Morsi Ghanem, former President of the Egyptian Gymnastics Federation, died suddenly after a brief illness. The news of his passing has cast a pall of sadness and dismay among his friends and loved-ones.

Dr Morsi Ghanem was a prominent figure in Egyptian gymnastics and has had a lasting impact on the history of African sport in general and at the national level in particular.

On numerous occasions he was recognised for the clarity with which he approached issues and for the soundness of his discourse. He was appreciated notably for his activity within the African Gymnastics Union Executive Committee.
