FINA Diving Grand Prix 2014 debuts in Madrid

Lausanne, Feb 12, 2014: The international diving elite will gather in Madrid (ESP) for the first meet of the FINA Diving Grand Prix 2014, organized from February 14-16. Eight events are on the competition programme: 3m springboard, 10m platform, 3m springboard synchro and 10m platform synchro for men and women.

Each year, the FINA Diving Grand Prix invites divers from all parts of the world to compete during the February-June period in a circuit of maximum seven meets. It was created mainly for three reasons: 1) to provide the best divers with a high-level competition that can be contested on a more frequent basis; 2) to focus on the main places of the diving meetings and enhance their popularity; 3) to promote diving in order to make it a more media-friendly event.

Presently, the diving programme of the Grand Prix for men and women includes 3m springboard, 10m platform, 3m springboard synchro and 10m platform synchro.

From February till October, rising and accomplished divers will be on track for medals in eight meets:

May 1-4, 2014 in Gatineau (CAN)

May 8-11, 2014 in San Juan (PUR)

May 16-18, 2014 in Guanajuato (MEX)

August 1-3, 2014 in Bolzano (ITA)

October 17-19, 2014 in Singapore (SIN)
