By Amelia Fisher-Starzynski/World Rugby, Dublin, Oct 14, 2016: Elite sports analytics market-leader Catapult has been announced as an event partner of the World Rugby Conference and Exhibition 2016 (ConfEx), taking place at the Hilton London Metropole on 14-15 November.

The global brand, which specialises in developing wearable technology that monitors the performance of elite athletes, will showcase its analytics platform to members of the global rugby family and wider sporting community within the event exhibition space. It will also drive thought leadership on the importance of data in modern-day rugby coaching during a plenary session on day two of the conference.

A pioneer in athlete performance analysis with more than 950 clients across 57 countries in 35 sports, Catapult currently serves more than 60 rugby teams at elite club and international level. By using Catapult’s wearable technology in both training and competitive games, coaches can make smarter decisions to advance performance by accessing insights into injury risk, player readiness and return to play.

World Rugby Chief Executive Brett Gosper said: “I would like to thank Catapult for its support of this year’s World Rugby ConfEx. This ground-breaking technology is perfectly suited to the event’s theme ‘the future of rugby’, and I have no doubt Catapult will provide invaluable insight during the performance management plenary.”

Catapult Global Head of League and Data Partnerships Karl Hogan said: “We are delighted to collaborate with World Rugby and become an official event partner of the 2016 World Rugby Conference and Exhibition. Rugby has always been a key sport for Catapult and World Rugby ConfEx allows us to continue to develop our relationships with national rugby unions from around the world.”
