Pakistan ready to host AIPS Asia electoral Congress

By Ijaz Ahmad Khan, PSWF, Islamabad, July 11, 2017: Pakistan is ready to host the AIPS Asia Congress scheduled for October 5-8 this year with more than 60 delegates from 30 countries of the Asia set to participate (AIPS Asia electoral Congress).

The decision in this respect was taken in an Executive Body meeting of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) held at the PID Office Islamabad with President Amjad Aziz Malik in the chair. Amjad, SVP Nasar Iqbal (Sindh), Secretary Zahid Farooq Malik (Islamabad), Associate Secretary Ijaz Ahmad Khan (KP), treasurer Shehzad Malik (Punjab), President KP SWA Jehanzeb Saddique, members EC Hanif Bajauri (FATA), Imtiaz Narinja (Sindh) Shakeel Khan and Azmat Ullah (KP) were also present.

Speaking on this occasion, President Amjad Aziz Malik informed the house that the Congress is scheduled for October. He said PSWF had bid for hosting the Congress with the aim of highlighting a positive image of Pakistan besides giving a message of peace to the rest of world.

He highlighted that it was a golden opportunity for PSWF to prepare everything to win back the bid of hosting the prestigious Congress of AIPS Asia.

Amjad further explained that besides Asian delegates, AIPS President Gianni Merlo of Italy, and the presidents AIPS Europe, AIPS Africa and AIPS America should also be invited to attend the first ever congress to be held in Pakistan.

Amjad informed the house that he held meetings with State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb who assured support for PSWF.

“I am also trying to hold meetings with Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa to inform them about the recently development regarding the Congress,” Amjad added.

“I’m hopeful that Pakistan would win back the bidding of hosting the Congress but the final decision will be confirmed on July 25, 2017 along with the venue either it be in Islamabad, or Lahore and Karachi,” he informed.

The EC has also given approval of launching PSWF Web site on August 1, 2017 wherein all the members of the associations have been directed to submit their respective data well before July 31, 2017 to the Chairman Imran Yousafzai of Dunia TV.

He added that the Annual Awards ceremony of the PSWF will be held on December 25 at Lahore wherein top 10 female and male players who excelled at international level would be recognized.

The awards would be named after prominent and yesteryear journalists. Senior Sports Journalist and Vice President PSWF Syed Ali Hashmi was nominated as head of the Awards Committee and Asghar Ali Mubarak will act as coordinator.

Presidents and Secretaries of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, KP Islamabad, and AJK will be the members. Amjad also directed the associations to ensure submission of online forms for issuing of AIPS Asia Cards. It was also decided that the next Congress meeting of PSWF will be organized on December 24 in Karachi.
