Paris 2024 unveils transport giant SNCF as its latest Official Partner

By Amelia Fisher-Starzynski, Mar 22, 2017: TRANSPORT GIANT SNCF, The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Bid Committee has become even stronger today as it announced the support of SNCF Group, its latest Official Partner.

With less than six months to go before the International Olympic Committee (IOC) 2024 host city decision in Lima on September 13th, the Paris 2024 Bid Committee has welcomed transport giant SNCF Group, which has pledged to use its vast international network to “Bring Territories Closer”.

 

 

 

 

 

A major pillar in French passenger transport and logistics, SNCF is known internationally for its leadership on high-speed trains that connect Europe (TGVs). As part of its partnership, SNCF will assist on all areas involving transport and mobility in both the planning and delivery stages of the Games, with its 150,000 staff devoting their know-how and expertise to the Paris 2024 project

Additionally, SNCF will bear the bid’s logo across Europe on its trains and stations, which nationwide serve more than 5 million people daily in France and 13.5 million in Europe.

This new announcement brings the total number of companies supporting the bid to 18, with 14 Official Partners and four Official Suppliers. All of them are international leaders in their respective businesses, and together they are committed to supporting Paris’ vision to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Etienne Thobois, Paris 2024 Chief Executive, said:

‘The SNCF support will be a tremendous asset for our visionary bid. Paris 2024 has an international focus, and we want to ensure we involve all part of France and countries beyond our borders in the Games. The SNCF’s arrival will not only enable us to develop the national and European approach of our project but it will also reinforce the strength of our concept with the expertise of a leader in transport, an element which has always been a major issue for host cities.

Mathias Vicherat, SNCF Deputy Chief Executive, added:

“We have always been involved in big sports events including Rugby World Cup in 2007 and the UEFA EURO 2016. SNCF has experience bringing people and territories closer at these events.

“This partnership signed today is a commitment by all women and men who work for the SNCF Group. They will all now become bid ambassadors, winning the hearts of the millions of people they help to transport in France every year.’
