IOC Presidential Candidates Speak to ATR

Atlanta – USA, August 6, 2013: With the IOC presidential election looming, Around the Rings exclusively presents podcasts with each of the six candidates. The six podcasts will be published Aug. 10 for subscribers, the one month mark to the IOC vote in Buenos Aires.

The podcasts, lasting about 30 minutes each, are hosted by ATR Editor Ed Hula and are based on interviews with the candidates the week of July 1 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The candidates are Thomas Bach, Denis Oswald, Sergey Bubka, Richard Carrion, Ser Miang Ng, and C.K. Wu. They will be available on Around the Rings.

“As with the election of Jacques Rogge in 2001, ATR has devoted itself to providing outstanding coverage of the upcoming IOC election,” said Sheila Scott Hula, publisher for Around the Rings. “It is just another example of how much exclusive Olympic content you can only find with ATR.”

The election will introduce the ninth IOC president since its first election in 1894. The election also will mark the first new president in 12 years, since Jacques Rogge’s election at the 112th IOC session in Moscow in 2001. Rogge’s predecessor, Juan Antonio Samaranch, served an even longer term: from 1980 to 2001. Together they served as president for more than 30 years.
