FIBA Europe has announced the list of the hosts of the 2012 Youth European Championships

Munich, (Germany) FIBA Europe Press Release, Nov 22, 2011: 214 teams will participate in as many as 14 tournaments in a total of 11 countries from Estonia to Gibraltar (2012 Youth European Championships).

The hosts of EuroBasket 2011, Lithuania, will once again welcome the European Basketball World for the U16 and U18 European Championships Men, which they will co-host with their neighbours Latvia, who also have good experience from EuroBasket Women 2009 and several youth European Championships.

Teams at the U18 European Championship will get the chance to walk in the shoes of stars like Andrei Kirilenko or Tony Parker since the venues are Klaipeda, which hosted Group D of EuroBasket, and Vilnius, where the Second Round was staged.

The hosts of the upcoming EuroBasket 2013, Slovenia are the organisers of the U20 European Championship and will use the event as a test for the 2013 edition of Europe’s biggest basketball event. Kranjska Gora and Ptuj will host the first Rounds while Ljubljana will be the venue for the Final Round. Ljubljana will also host the Second and Final Round of EuroBasket 2013.

Hungary, who are bidding to host EuroBasket Women 2015, will host both the U16 and U20 European Championship Women Division A. The U18 European Championship Women Division A will return to Romania for a second year in a row after the successful organisation of this year’s tournament.
