Talal Fahad Al-Sabah chief of Kuwait NOC

Kuwait – KUNA, Jan 6, 2014: The General Assembly of Kuwait National Olympic Committee (NOC) named Sheikh Dr Talal Fahad Al-Sabah as Chairman for a four-year term and Obaid Al-Enezi as Secretary General on Sunday. Eleven people were elected as members of board of NOC representing national sport federations during a General Assembly meeting, attended by Haidar Farman, an observer of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The board members are Ali Yusuf (fencing), Dekheel Al-Adwani (boxing and weight lifting), Jassem Thiab (handball), Fahad Al-Hamlan (carate), Sheikh Talal Mohammad Al-Sabah (table tennis), Dr. Fuad Al-Falah (swimming), Mohammad Thallab (basketball), Kamal Al-Ayyoubi (volleyball), Khaled Al-Shemmeri (athletics), Jassem Al-Huwaitan (tennis) and Nawaf Al-Duweesh (gymnastics).

The General Assembly approved appointment of four additional members: Dr Majeed Al-Musawi, Abdulwahed Khalil, Mubarak Al-Meseb and Mahmoud Abul. The assembly members also named three honorary chairmen of the NOC and three honorary members. Chairman of Kuwait National Olympic Committee Sheikh Talal Fahad Al-Sabah voiced keenness Sunday on preserving the Olympic Charter, primarily boosting democracy, the General Assembly be the supreme authority and preventing foreign interference.

Sheikh Talal, in a speech after the General Assembly named as NOC Chairman, said the Olympic Committee “will present studies and reports for the government authorities that will cooperate with us” Sheikh Talal called on NOC members to join hands to address all challenges coupled with the spread of sport culture.
