Second YOG Nanjing 2012.

On the 10th of February 2010, the 122nd IOC session at Vancouver announced Nanjing as the host city of the Second YOG Nanjing 2012. The motto of the Nanjing Games is “Olympics for the young, by the young.”

It is hoped that the Games will:
*Boost self-understanding, active participation and creativity in young people both in the sports arena and in everyday life;
*Promote understanding, build up friendships, and help young people to understand and appreciate responsibility in a mature way;
*Advocate fair competition and concern for health and the environment;
*Give young people enhanced self-confidence and a sense of the civilization they will inherit – “Heart to Heart” and “Hand in Hand”!

The Nanjing 2014 Summer YOG will encompass all 28 sports and will be held from August 16th to 28th. The Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee (NYOGOC) will work together with the IOC to gather the best youth athletes from around the world and build a creative platform for them. This YOG will focus on discussions about education, Olympic values, social challenges, and cultural diversity to make it a high level international sporting event. The YOGOC aims to spread the Olympic spirit and enhance sporting awareness.

The Nanjing 2014 YOG will represent a happy and healthy platform for the world’s young people. This grand stage will be backed by both organizations and volunteers. The YOG also focuses on interconnection through the use of new media to achieve an interactive web between athletes, audiences, the youth of the world and the sporting world. All the participants will be connected through the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect. They will experience cultural diversity, promote lofty ideals of serving the greater society, develop a healthy lifestyle and promote the sustainable development of our world.
