31st OCM Annual General Assembly – Saturday, 30th June 2012, Wisma OCM, Kuala Lumpur.
The 31st OCM Annual General Assembly was successfully concluded on Saturday, 30th June 2012 at Level 3, OCM Indoor Sports Arena, Wisma OCM, Kuala Lumpur.
31 Ordinary members out of 35, with a total of 62 delegates and 11 Associate members out of 20 with a total of 11 delegates attended the General Assembly. Representatives of the Sports Division of the Ministry of Education, the Sports Commissioner’s Office, the National Sports Council, the National Sports Institute, and Y.Bhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. M. Jegathesan, Chairman of OCM’s Medical Committee were also present as observers.
The General Assembly unanimously approved the 30th Annual Report as well as the Annual Financial Report for the Year 1st January to 31st December 2011. The General Assembly also unanimously approved the amendments to a few sub-articles of the Constitutions proposed by the Executive Board of OCA, but did not approve the proposal submitted by the Malaysian Golf Association to amend Sub-Article 18.10 of the OCM Constitution.
Launch of the 1-Year Countdown of the 3rd Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games
The 3rd Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games will be held in Incheon, Korea, from 29th June to 6th July 2013. There will be 9 sports, namely: Billiards Sport, Bowling, Chess & Go, Dance Sport, Futsal, Kabaddi, Kick Boxing & Muay, Kurash and Short-course Swimming. In addition to being the 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games, the Games will also serve as test events for the 17th Asian Games to be held in the same City, Incheon, in 2014.
The Olympic Council of Asia delegated Dato’ Sieh Kok Chi, Honorary Secretary of the Olympic Council of Asia to represent the Southeast Asia region at the launch of the 1-Year Countdown at Incheon on 29th June 2012. Unfortunately, the representatives of the other 4 regions NOCs could not attend the event, and Dato’ Sieh Kok Chi was elevated to represent all the 45 NOCs of the Olympic Council of Asia, with Mr. Jian Zhou, Media Manager of OCA representing OCA at the Ceremony.
The Ceremony was at Yonsei University’s Songdo Campus. More than 600 guests attended the event including IAGOC President Kim Young-soo, Incheon Mayor Song Young-gil, representatives from OCA and NOCs, local assembly members and the city council chairman.
The objective of the ceremony was to promote interest in the Games in Korea, and in particular in Incheon City. The ceremony opened with a cheer-leading performance, a contemporary dance performance evolving martial arts movements, depicting a fight between good and evil, and finally a mock medal presentation. There was also a beauty contest to select the best medal stewardess out of 36 stewardesses who have been selected for victory ceremonies.
Dato’ Sieh Kok Chi received the 4th AIMAG official invitation from IAGOC President Kim Young-soo on behalf of the 45 Asian NOC, while Mr. Jian Zho received the invitation on behalf of OCA from Incheon Mayor Song Young-gil.
Olympic Day Fun Run 2012
The Olympic Day Fun Run 2012 will be held on Sunday, 8th July 2012 from 6.30 am, at Dataran Merdeka. Although the Closing Date of the Run was on 24th June 2012, due to over-whelming and popular requests, the organising committee was still accepting entries on 1st July. The Run has 13 categories, with cash prizes for the 1st to 5th finishers in each category and finishing medals for the minimum first 30 finishers, in the Men’s Senior and Women’s Senior categories. For other categories, there will be more finishing medals. The participation fees are still the lowest compared with most of the runs in Kuala Lumpur. Each registered participant will be entitled to a certificate of participation, Olympic Day Fun Run 2012 T-shirts and a McDonald’s “Be Our Guest” Card.
