Germany, Dec 12: The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced on Wednesday (12 December) that Liski has become the official supplier of IPC Alpine Skiing. Liski is an Italian sport equipment company with a wide range of products on the international market to aid ski slope preparation, maintenance and equipment.
The company will provide IPC Alpine Skiing with all necessary products for the sport, such as start tents, support poles, slalom poles and protection mattresses.
For the 2013 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships from 20-27 February, Liski will provide the safety netting for one of the training slopes at La Molina Ski Resort, which will be installed to stay at the training centre permanently. Nearly 150 athletes from close to 40 countries are expected to take part in the event, just a year out from the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games.
All materials that Liski will provide IPC Alpine Skiing are designed by highly qualified technicians and tested in international laboratories. It will be an official supplier of IPC Alpine Skiing through 30 June 2014.
Sylvana Mestre, IPC Alpine Skiing Sport Technical Committee Chairperson, said: “It is great to see the growth IPC Alpine Skiing has experienced the last couple of seasons and we are excited to invite Liski on board as the sport’s official supplier in the lead up to the Sochi 2014 Games.”
IPC Alpine Skiing, in co-operation with its national associations and their local organizing committees, organizes World Cup races and World Championships for its various disciplines which are included on the Paralympic Winter Games programme.
Liski has served as the official supplier of many major international events on the able-bodied side of snow sport, including the last two Olympic Games, the 2011 Snowboarding World Championships, the 2011 Nordic Skiing World Championships and various World Cup Alpine Promotion events. —- IPC
