First case for CAS in Sochi Daniela Bauer

Sochi, Feb 2, 2014: A few days after its opening, the ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered its first case in Sochi. This morning, the Austrian skier Daniela Bauer (women’s ski halfpipe) filed an application at the CAS ad hoc Division against the Austrian ski federation (ASF) and the Austrian NOC.

Daniela Bauer requests the CAS to order the ASF and the Austrian NOC to place her in the Olympic team to represent Austria in the women’s freestyle ski halfpipe at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

She puts forward that she has met the FIS qualification requirements and that a quota place was available for her.

A CAS Panel composed of Patrick Lafranchi (Switzerland), President, The Hon. Robert Décary (Canada) and Prof. Matthew Mitten (USA) has been constituted and will hold a hearing on Monday 3 February 2014.

A final decision is likely to be communicated early on 4 February 2014. —- CSA
