Novak Appointed Secretary General

Munich – Germany, Oct 22, 2012: FIBA Europe has appointed 45-year-old former Czech international Kamil Novak as its new Secretary General.

Novak was voted in by the FIBA Europe Board during its extraordinary meeting in Munich, Germany, on Saturday, October 20. He will replace Nar Zanolin who was relieved of his duties last May.

“Kamil Novak is an experienced, well-travelled and accomplished individual who satisfies all the conditions for the task at hand,” commented the FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson.

“I believe that the Board has made the right decision and I look forward to working with him.”

“I would like to thank the FIBA Europe Board for putting their faith in me and giving me this great opportunity,” stated Novak.

“I’m of course delighted but I’m also aware that there is no time for celebrations as there is a lot of hard work ahead of us. The next 12 months are expected to be the busiest in FIBA Europe history.”

Kamil Novak joins FIBA Europe from the German club Fraport Skyliners in Frankfurt, where he has worked as a Sports Director since 2005. He was born in the Czech city of Ostrava and he spent a big part of his days as a player with the club from his native city, but during his professional playing career he also saw action in the dress of outfits in Portugal, Germany, Austria and Luxembourg.

Novak holds a degree in Economics and speaks several languages. For the last 10 years he’s been living in Germany. —- FIBA Europe
