Germany, Apr 29, 2014: The club season is drawing to an end, signaling the beginning of summer, and of course, another year of the 3×3 EuroTour (#3x3EuroTour). This year the tour will be stopping by a number of the same venues as last year, as well as picking up some new hotspots along the way.
The national federations of Latvia and Romania are on board for a third consecutive year, with stops again coming to Riga and Bucharest.
For a second consecutive year, the 3×3 EuroTour will also return to Antwerp, Copenhagen and Tallinn, whilst the Dutch and Hungarian national federations have shown their continued support for the Tour but have moved their events to Amsterdam and Zanka from The Hague and Budapest respectively. Two more venues are expected to be confirmed within the coming weeks, taking the number of tour stops to nine.
The major change in this year’s calendar is the replacement of the 3×3 EuroTour Final with the 1st 3×3 European Championships with three of the tour stops doubling as national qualifying tournaments for the final, set to take place in Bucharest from 5-7 September.
32 national federations have registered teams to play in the national qualifying tournaments and will be responsible for the selection of their respective men’s and women’s teams. The teams will learn which qualifying tournament they will compete in over the course of the next seven days.
Tournaments that do not double as national qualifying tournaments will instead act as qualifiers to one of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters stops.
Of course, 3×3 EuroTour is once more promoting Basketball 4 Everybody with the elite and national teams only making up a very small part of every tour stop, with a target of over 100 participating teams across various age-grade categories and wheelchair basketball.
Side events will also continue to be a key part of the event with at least two professional dunkers competing at every event.
Every participant will once again receive an official 3×3 EuroTour singlet and an official team photo, available for download from the 3×3 EuroTour Facebook page.
This year the tour will be using the Spalding TF33 as the official game ball.
