IAAF,Toyota extend Sponsorship partnership

Monaco – Sept 17, 2012: The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) is delighted to announce that, with the support of IAAF Marketing Partner Dentsu, the Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has signed an agreement to continue as an official partner of the IAAF World Championships until 2017.

Toyota, which was already committed to provide support until the 14th edition of the IAAF World Championships, Moscow, Russia (10 – 18 August 2013), has agreed to extend its commitment to cover the 2015 and 2017 IAAF World Championships which take place respectively in Beijing, China (22-30 August 2015) and London, United Kingdom (5 – 13 August 2017).

As an official partner, Toyota’s logo will appear on the women’s athletes’ bibs, with Toyota providing the official vehicles for the IAAF World Championships, including the Marathon lead timing car and approximately 200 vehicles for athlete transportation.

“Following the success of the last edition of the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, Korea in 2011 and the tremendous atmosphere of the recent Olympic Games, there is a buzz of excitement flowing around Athletics,” commented IAAF President Lamine Diack. “Our sport and especially the IAAF World Athletics Series with the biennial World Championships as its crowning jewel is more than ever an attractive product for the worlds’ top corporations. I’m therefore delighted that Toyota, which has been an official partner of the IAAF World Championships since 2003, has decided to continue its mutually beneficial partnership with the IAAF.”

Toyota’s support of the IAAF World Championships also ranges from presenting awards to World record setting athletes, providing environment-friendly vehicles – such as the “Prius” gasoline-electric hybrid – for use during the championships, in line with the “Green Earth” and “Green Management” ideals of the IAAF’s Green Project. —- IAAF
