FIG Disciplinary Commission, HEARINGS

Lausanne, Oct 17, 2012: Hearings, The Disciplinary Commission of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) is scheduled to meet early November at the FIG Head Office in Lausanne to hear two gymnasts who recently tested positive during in competition anti-doping procedures.

Luiza Galiulina (UZB) was tested on July 25, 2012 at the close of a training session leading up to Olympic competitions at the London (GBR) Games. A urine sample revealed the presence of the diuretic, furosemide. The gymnast was suspended effective immediately by the IOC, and thus banned from participation in the Olympic Games. The case was then transferred to the FIG for any further action within its jurisdiction.

The second case casts back to a control carried out on September 8, 2012 at the FIG Trampoline/Tumbling World Cup in Loulé (POR), where a gymnast tested positive for dymethylpentylamine and carphedon, both stimulants.

In keeping with the rules in force, the FIG opened disciplinary proceedings and invited the two athletes to speak before an ad hoc Commission made up of Mr Paul Engelmann (SUI), President, Mr Rached Gharbi (TUN) and Nihad Hagverdiyev (AZE).

Commission rulings will be made public once the two gymnasts and their respective federations have been notified. —- FIG
