SOFIA (BUL) – LAUSANNE (SUI), FIG Office, April 02, 2012: The President of the FIG Aerobic Gymnastics Technical Committee, Mireille Ganzin (FRA), has proceeded on Wednesday to the drawing of lots of the 5th World Age Group Competitions and the 12th World Championships of the discipline, to be held respectively May 29 – 31 and June 1 – 3, 2012, in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
The draw was conducted in the presence of Mrs. Iordanka Blagoeva, President of the Aerobic Union of Bulgaria and of the Organizing Committee together with Mrs. Maria Mineva (BUL), Member of the FIG Technical Committee of the discipline. In 2004, Sofia already hosted the Aerobic Gymnastics World Championships in the old Winter Palast. In 2012, the event will take place in the new Armeec Arena, inaugurated in July 2011.
These championships will also serve as qualification event for the 9th World Games, to be held in Cali (COL) in 2013, where the discipline is one of the most popular competitions.
