Youth Leadership Programme Returns to Florida for a 2-in-1 Camp

Geneva, Switzerland (UNOSDP), June 9, 2015: The United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace continues exploring new formats for its flagship educational initiative which targets young leaders of sport for development field.

Following its first Spanish-speaking edition in Colombia, last Sunday the Youth Leadership Programme returned to the IMG Academy in Bradenton (Florida, USA) for the biggest camp to date with 47 participants representing 26 nations.

The 17th edition of the programme has connected a group of newly selected participants (“bachelors”) with some of the most successful YLP alumni of different years (“masters”). Although the two groups will follow separate curricula corresponding to their level of expertise, with two days of community work planned for the returning alumni, they will also engage in some joint activities and have numerous opportunities to exchange knowledge and practices.

By tradition, UNOSDP invited some of the world-renowned experts to deliver the workshops and training sessions at the camp. The line-up of facilitators includes Youth Sport Trust, International Olympic Truce Centre, World Taekwondo Federation, Badminton World Federation and International Table Tennis Federation.

On June 13 and 14, both “bachelors” and “masters” will participate in a Sports Festival run by the organizing partner of the camp, Global Action Initiatives.
