Yankton, South Dakota, May 06, 2021: The event will take place immediately after the 2021 Hyundai World Archery Championships.
Yankton will host this year’s Hyundai Archery World Cup Final on 29-30 September, immediately after the Hyundai World Archery Championships, to end the current outdoor season and complete the 15th year of the international circuit.
It is the first time the annual event will host in the USA and the first time these two tournaments will run consecutively in the same location.
Eight archers will compete in each division for the coveted Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion titles and a top prize of 24,000 CHF.
At least one of those archers in each category, four in total, now guarantee to be from the States as the host country reserves spots.
They’ll join by the winners of the three stages in Guatemala, Lausanne and Paris, plus the individual Olympic Champions from Tokyo 2020, with the remaining places filled from the circuit rankings.
USA archer and reigning world number one Braden Gellenthien is already qualified for the event having won in Guatemala.
The creation of the Yankton hub to host the Hyundai World Archery Championships, Hyundai Archery World Cup Final and World Archery Congress in a single location at the end of the season reduces travel challenges for teams and ensures that the world’s best archers can compete at both of these important events.
It also makes it easier to implement pandemic-related safety restrictions and for World Archery to protect athlete well-being.
The hub is hosting by the National Field Archery Association Foundation at its headquarters, the Yankton NFAA Easton Archery Centre, with endorsement from USA Archery, World Archery’s member association in the United States.
The finals of the world championships will take place in broadcast sessions held over three days from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 September 2021.
The match bracket draw for the Hyundai Archery World Cup Final expects to take place on Monday 27, followed by live coverage of the event itself on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 September 2021. (Rather than the traditional Saturday and Sunday.)
Lausanne hosts the second stage of the 2021 Hyundai Archery World Cup later this month. —- World Archery
