Basle, Oct 20, 2013: From 25 to 28 October 2013 the handball world will have all eyes on Doha, when the XXXIV IHF Ordinary Congress will take place in the Qatari capital including the elections of all IHF bodies. Representatives and delegates of the IHF Member Federations from all five continents will gather under one roof for four days in the Ritz Carlton Doha hotel.
At the Congress elections for IHF positions will be conducted. The following positions will be elected during the first day of the IHF Congress: IHF President, IHF 1st Vice-President, IHF Treasurer, two members of the IHF Executive Committee, Chairmen of all IHF Commissions (COC, PRC, CCM, MC, CD and the newly installed Ethics Commission) as well as the Chairmen and ten members of both the Arbitration Tribunal and the Arbitration Commission and two internal IHF auditors.
Additionally to his in-depth President’s report about all IHF projects, events and activities which had being carried out in this electoral period (2009-2013), IHF President Dr Hassan Moustafa will present the new Four Years Plan for 2013 to 2017.
The decisions and confirmations on admissions of new IHF Member Federations are another major part of the Congress. Should all new federations be granted membership by the Congress, after the provisional recognition of the Council on 24 October, the IHF will count 199 Member Federations.
The following six younger age category World Championships (both genders) for the upcoming years will be awarded by the Congress:
Men’s Junior World Championship in 2015
Men’s Youth World Championship in 2015
Women’s Junior World Championship in 2016
Women’s Youth World Championship in 2016
Men’s Junior World Championship in 2017
Men’s Youth World Championship in 2017
Additionally the delegates will award the hosting city of the 2015 IHF Ordinary Congress.
The final part of the IHF Congress will again be dedicated to awards for federations like the Hans Baumann Trophy or individual members of the international handball family.
