BWF Media Release, Dec 15, 2011: Write a season review and win a trip to the 2012 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals Calling all journalists and writers with an analytical eye and an insightful mind.
As the 2011 Li Ning BWF World Super series Finals shuttles off in China’s Liuzhou this week, in the spirit of the 2011 BWF Media Prize, the Badminton World Federation would like to hear from sports writers all over the world their review of the 2011 OSIM BWF World Superseries season.

The two best season review stories (1 English and 1 Chinese) published on either the print or electronic media will each win the 2011 BWF Media Prize – a trip to the 2012 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Wuhan, China, from 25 to 27 May, where flights and accommodation are paid for.
Ten meritorious winners (5 English and 5 Chinese stories) will also be given recognition. Both in-house and freelance journalists will have to submit proof of publishing – do see the BWF Media Prize criteria attached with this release for details of submission guidelines. BWF Media Prizes Criteria for 2011.
Be the original work of sports journalists of print or electronic media such as the newspapers, magazines and Internet
Be published between 1st January 2011 and 23rd December 2011
Be in either English or Chinese language (traditional Chinese stories will have to be converted into simplified Chinese before submission)
Be of an appropriate length. While no minimum or maximum word count is imposed, the journalistic judgment of the writer will be taken into account
Be perceptive, discerning, in-depth and news-worthy pertaining to the OSIM BWF World Superseries, players or issues surrounding the current season
Be professional and adhering to high standards of journalism ethics including (but not limited to) the reference to sources (if any), proper usage of quotes of personalities in its intended context, the accurate usage of the name of the series a la “OSIM BWF World Superseries” – in an effort to streamline the public’s awareness of the 12 Super series events, it is deemed favourable for stories to portray that the event in writing is part of this series
Be able to capture in writing either one or as many of the following:
(i) The essence of competitiveness of the 12-leg series building up to the season finale, BWF World Superseries Finals, or a series’ season review
(ii) The humanity of the players in the competition, the drama and emotion that brings a human touch to the sport and the Super series
(iii) The mirroring values of the sport and its sponsors, such as OSIM, that serves to create a philosophical synergy for the sport Exclusions
Advertorials or stories from sponsored pages will not be considered for the award Submission Procedure Only the first TEN (10) nominations from each media organisation and wire agencies will be considered.
Freelance writers can be considered as separate submissions and each writer can submit up to THREE (3) nominations but each submission will require the official endorsement of the publication the story was published on.
