Trentino all Set for the Final Sprint

Trentino – Italy, Sept 20, 2013: Less than 100 days to go to before the delegations parade at the Opening Ceremony of the 26th Winter Universiade in Trentino, which will take place from 11 to 21 December 2013. The whole WUOC team, including the 1,800 volunteers, is working on the big sport event to make it an unforgettable and special happening.

The goal of making the WU a special event has already been partly reached thanks to the entries of about 3,600 participants coming from 57 countries. These figures are, in fact a record both for this multi-sport event and for Trentino, which is hosting for the very first time such a major sporting event.

The Organising Committee, chaired by its President Sergio Anesi, and relying on the support of its Vice-President Paolo Bouquet and its Secretary-General Filippo Bazzanella, involves 117 individuals dealing with and managing issues related to 7 specialized areas, covering a set of activities ranging from logistics to communication.

The Trentino Winter Universiade is a great career starter according to the OC President. Indeed, for 27 young professionals this event will be their first job, as well as, as well as a great experience for the 1,800 volunteers providing their cooperation in the event.

Furthermore, the WU has the same training value also for the valley communities, municipal administrations and organising committees of other global sport events cooperating in synergy for the success of this world level sport event. In the meanwhile, no less than 11 competition venues are getting prepared thanks to the Trentino WU, updating their infrastructures to host student-athletes coming from all over the world to compete in high level standard facilities.

The 26th WU will also be characterized by the conference taking place from 9 to 10 December in Rovereto, prior to the competitions. It will focus on sport as a tool for innovation with as its main protagonist the research departments of University of Trento with their 17 investigation innovative projects related to sports. —- FISU/Source: Trentino 2013 WUOC
