Djokovic and Murray to star on World Tennis Day

London, August 27, 2013: MURRAY, The line-up for the 7th annual BNP Paribas Showdown at Madison Square Garden will provide the perfect end to World Tennis Day on 3 March 2014.

The event will feature tennis’ number one rivalry at the moment, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, as well as, for the first time in its history, a unique brothers doubles match with John and Patrick McEnroe teaming up to take on Mike and Bob Bryan, arguably the best doubles team of all-time.

“I am looking forward to coming to Madison Square Garden,” said Djokovic. “I have heard nothing but great things about this event and it should be a big night for tennis in New York, one of my favourite places to play.”

Murray added: “I’m excited about coming to the Garden next year. Ivan [Lendl] has told me plenty of stories about matches and other events that have taken place there. There is so much history attached to the venue and it should be a great night for both Novak and me.”

The BNP Paribas Showdown is one of the most high-profile events taking place on the 2nd annual World Tennis Day next year. The event is produced by MSG Sports and StarGames.

“As the crown jewel of World Tennis Day, the BNP Paribas Showdown continues a tradition of tennis at the Garden which goes back decades,” said Jerry Solomon, president of StarGames Inc. “Once again we hope to be able to provide some goose bump moments for the fans as we celebrate Tennis Night in America with what is becoming the number one rivalry in tennis and some brotherly doubles that will thrill the crowd.

It should be another great night for tennis and another great night in New York.” BNP Paribas Managing Director of Corporate Communications Michele Sicard added: “Once again BNP Paribas is proud to be the title sponsor of this great event. “It has proven to be a fantastic place for us to do business and it is always special for us to be associated with world class tennis and world class venues.”

Tickets for the event will start at $50 and will go on sale on 4 November. They can be purchased at the Madison Square Garden box office, online at www.thegarden.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets.
