LAUSANNE (SUI), July 10, 2012: Colourful Swiss Gymnastics personality, Werner Walder, died June 29, 2012 at the age of eighty. The presidency of the Artistic Gymnastics Men’s Technical Committee marked the capstone of his career, a position he held for several years. At the international level, Walder gained respect among the judges college and was a panel member at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta (USA).
A born organiser, Werner Walder penned “Anleitung für die Organisation kantonaler Kunstturnertage”, instructions for the organisation of cantonal gymnastics days; the book was published by the Swiss Gymnastics Federation. With his departure, Gymnastics loses a devout servant. —– FIG
