The Italian national anthem accompanied the entry of team Hockey Fassa’s children, who brought on ice the flags of all nations that participated in the event. Shortly after, the authorities held their speeches.

“This was the Universiade of innovation, sustainability and harmony. This was the Universiade of the entire community, the community of Trentino: we are proud of how much 10 villages, five valleys and a small but special community have been able to deliver. Trentino became a sort of global village and we all hope that it will become your community”, stated the President of the Organising Committee, Sergio Anesi. Then he thanked the most important international authority involved in the Universiade, FISU. “Thanks to FISU. They made the Universiade into a celebration of sports and universities, on the 90th anniversary of the World Student Universiade. We won and we won as a team. We hope that you will all keep the experience of the Universiade Trentino 2013 in your hearts and memory”.

The Closing Ceremony continued with the speech delivered by FISU President, Mr Claude-Louis Gallien: “We all worked very hard to seize this challenge and organise this great event. We, the student-athletes, the coaches, the judges and the referees, the technicians and the volunteers. We trained and trained again, to be ready. And we made it! Everyone did their best, everyone in their own way, but all together. Ladies and gentlemen, I am honored to close this 26th Winter Universiade Trentino 2013″.

The final stage of the Winter Universiade Trentino 2013 closing ceremony was the occasion for Trentino to handover its role to Granada, which will host the 27th Winter Universiade 2015.
