Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia, Feb 15, 2013: Senior law enforcement and footballing officials from around the world are gathering for ‘Match fixing: The Ugly Side of the Beautiful Game’, the INTERPOL International conference for representatives from Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Member Associations and law enforcement agencies to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 20 and 21 February.
In partnership with FIFA, AFC and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), the event comes under the auspices of INTERPOL’s Integrity in Sport unit, as part of the joint INTERPOL/FIFA Training, Education and Prevention Initiative and will be held at the Renaissance Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
Journalists are invited to attend the opening session which begins at 9.15am on Wednesday, 20 February and which will include keynote speeches from representatives of INTERPOL, FIFA and the AFC.
The closing session on 21 February, which will begin at 12.30pm,will also be open to the media and will be followed by a press conference with INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble, who will make a major announcement on INTERPOL’s actions in relation to recent match-fixing investigations.
