Who will succeed “flying Balic”? – IHF awards Handball Photo of the Year

May 07, 2012: Cheering players or fans, fountains of sparkling wine when the trophy is raised, spectacular pictures of speed and emotions, totally different angles or just a brilliant snapshot – everything is possible! The International Handball Federation is again awarding the prize for the best handball photo of the year. The winner of the 2010 award was a picture taken by the Croat Antonio Bronic during the EHF EURO in Austria, showing low-flying Ivano Balic competing for the ball against Iceland’s Alexander Petersson.

More than 100 pictures had been sent to the IHF last year from all over the world – and the expert and media jury including the IHF Executive Committee hope to get the same amount this year. The prize money again amounts to CHF 5,000 for the winner.

All professional photographers working on handball are invited to send their best shots of 2011 showing the attraction, the thrill, the emotion, the speed or the enthusiasm of handball. The best photos will be published in the World Handball Magazine and further IHF publications.

The conditions of participation:

• The theme of the photo must be handball

• The photo must have been taken in 2011

• Closing date is 1 July 2012

• Any photographer can send up to three photos

• The photo should be sent in digital form to photooftheyear2011@ihfdata.com
