Lausanne, April 18, 2014: The Gothenburg Horse Show is celebrating today at the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final in Lyon (FRA) after winning the Best Press Office Award for the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Western European League 2013/2014. Media covering the series voted for the winning press office.
Gothenburg Horse Show press officer Mayvor Thorin, who has worked for the event non-stop since it hosted the first Final of the FEI World Cup™ Jumping series in 1979, accepted the award on behalf of the show’s organising committee and 12-strong press office team.
The Gothenburg Horse Show has gone on to host a total of 12 Finals and 23 qualifiers, so is well-accustomed to the job of responding to global media needs.
“The media landscape in sports is constantly evolving, and we need to keep step by listening and adapting, and where possible pre-empting needs”, Mayvor Thorin said. “The media is vital to the success of this time-honoured series, and being voted for this award by the media is very special. We are all truly honoured.”
“The on-site press teams are vital to ensuring media have all the latest information and tools necessary to report on our sport, our athletes and our sponsors around the world,” said FEI Director of Press Relations, Grania Willis.
“The Best Press Office award celebrates the vital work of these teams, both on-site at the venue and online, and the media covering the Longines 2013/2014 series voted overwhelmingly for Gothenburg, which has staged some of the most exciting FEI World Cup competitions over the years, including 12 Finals. The Gothenburg press team are a joy to work with and their dedication is legendary amongst the media.”
