Kuala Lumpur, July 3, 2021: The Badminton World Federation (BWF) in partnership with the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) have combined to offer yet another unique education pathway opportunity for badminton athletes and aspiring administrators within the community.
One fully funded scholarship and four 25% scholarships are available for the Bachelor of International Sport Management degree offered by WAoS and Federation University.
It appeals to individuals looking to launch their careers in the sports industry and builds upon the Athlete Certificate and Post Graduate Certificate Scholarship Programmes previously offered by BWF and WAoS.
The fully online course can be completed in three years full-time or up to 10 years part-time and has been developed through identifying the increasing demand from athletes to be more dual-career minded and the need from industry professionals for more flexible study options to progress within the sports industry.
Additionally, the programme recognises that combining local context with an international overlay is increasingly more significant in all aspects of sports management.
BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund said: “This new opportunity forms part of our ongoing efforts with WAoS to provide education pathways for badminton athletes and other industry participants – something we value as being an important cog of our overall development initiatives within the BWF.”
WAoS’ Managing Director Chris Solly added: “The global sport industry is quickly rebounding. It is becoming more professional and global. The demand for highly qualified graduates is increasing. A qualification in International Sport Management provides students the extra level of skill needed to progress to the next step in their careers.”
Applications for the scholarships are open from 5 July to 9 August 2021 with the intake beginning on 30 August. For full details on the International Sport Management degree visit: www.passiontoprofession.sport/degree/overview
