London, July 8, 2013: The Draw for the 2014 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas will be held at the offices of BNP Paribas in Paris on Wednesday 10 July at 19:00 local time (17:00 GMT). The Draw is taking place during the ITF’s Centenary AGM in Paris on 9-12 July.
The Draw will be streamed live on the official Fed Cup website: www.fedcup.com
The 2013 finalists are automatically the top two seeds in the 2014 World Group, while the remaining seeds are based on the latest ITF Fed Cup Nations Ranking of 22 April 2013.
The four seeded nations in the 2014 World Group are: Italy (1), Russia (2), Czech Republic (3), Slovak Republic (4).
Each of the seeds will be drawn against one of the following unseeded nations: Australia, Germany, Spain, USA.
The four seeded nations in the 2014 World Group II are: Serbia (1), Japan (2), Sweden (3), Switzerland (4).
Each of the seeds will be drawn against one of the following unseeded nations: Argentina, Canada, France, Poland.
The 2014 Fed Cup dates have been confirmed as follows:
World Group/World Group II first round 8-9 February 2014
World Group semifinals, World Group/World Group II play-offs 19-20 April 2014
World Group Final 1-2 November 2014
The three regional Zone Group I events in 2014 (Americas, Asia/Oceania, Europe/Africa) will be held in the week commencing 3 February 2014.
The 2013 Fed Cup by BNP Paribas Final between Italy and Russia will take place in Italy on 2-3 November. The venue will be confirmed in due course.
Fed Cup by BNP Paribas is the largest annual international team competition in women’s sport, with 97 nations entered in 2013. The event is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2013 in the ITF’s centenary year. The title sponsor is BNP Paribas, the Official Bank of Fed Cup.
