Dato Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh withdraws

Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia, Mar 25, 2013: The Badminton World Federation wishes to confirm the withdrawal of Dato Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh from the upcoming BWF presidential elections.

BWF Secretary General Thomas Lund has indicated that the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) – who nominated Nadzmi – today indicated officially that the BAM President will no longer stand for the BWF’s top post when BWF Council elections are held on Saturday 18 May in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The remaining candidates for the post of BWF President are Dr. Justian Suhandinata (Indonesia) and Poul-Erik Hoyer (Denmark).


The draw for the Li Ning Sudirman Cup 2013 takes place Thursday 28 March, 2013, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Media are invited to attend the proceedings, including a Press conference, starting at 11 am (media registration starts at 10.30 am) in Bronx V, Level 14, of Berjaya Times Square Hotel, 1 Jalan Imbi, Kuala Lumpur, to witness which teams will be grouped together for the opening round of competition in the coveted World Mixed Team Championship.

The Sudirman Cup will be held 19-26 May at Putra Indoor Stadium in Malaysia. Defending champions, China, will be seeking an unprecedented ninth title in the biennial event which started in 1989. A total of 31 teams are competing in this year’s tournament. —- BWF
