CITYevents 2011 Lausanne, a new success

CITYevents News: Last November 16th, 17th and 18th, major international sports events stakeholders met in Lausanne, Olympic capital to build together future international sport events. 292 participants coming from 31 countries shared their experiences and addressed forward-looking ideas about future international sporting competitions (CITYevents 2011 Lausanne).

Under the theme «Three dimensions of successful event hosting»,

speakers show how to maximise the impact on revenues, how to maximise the impact on the well being of citizens, how to maximise the impact on national and international perception.

«Breakout» sessions made easier the experience sharing.

In smaller groups, participants discussed with speakers about questions such as economic in sighting, territorial policy, marketing and promotional tools, the use of new technologies as social networks, etc. in order to make international sport event hosting more efficient and more beneficial for a city.

In an introduction speech, Stéphane DIAGANA shared his point of view as a top-level athlete.

Then, attendees benefi ted from experiences feedbacks from cities as Chicago, Gwangju, Vancouver; from sports Federations with the International Swimming Federation, the International Basketball Federation, the German Football Federation; from event organizers as Lagardère Unlimited, ASO, Populous, OC Third Pole, The Extreme Sport Company; or from many others international sports events stakeholders as TSE Consulting, Samsung, Peace & Sports, AISTS, Populous, Upsolut, Reütter and Partners, Head of United Nation Office on Sport for Development and Peace; and many others. CITYevents was a very good Networking opportunity.

The «speed-meeting» encouraged federations, cities, organizers and sponsors to meet each other. Over 130 meeting took place in 2 hours ; what will lead to concrete collaborations in the future. The two cocktail diners organized at Mövenpick Hotel and at Maison du Sport International allowed participants to strengthen their key-contacts and develop their network.

All ingredients required for organising successful sporting events, latest trends and innovations had been screened by experts during 3 days. For cities willing to fully take advantage of international sport events organisation, CITYevents is the place to be to benefi t from latest trends in sport industry and key executive contacts.
