The trophy tour’s six destinations will help build national excitement among sports fans and shine the biggest spotlight ever on the WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup 2018 and women’s baseball in general.
This prestigious trophy tour would not be possible without the support of Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism, Major League Baseball and its Clubs, and USSSA.”
Tony Reagins, Executive Vice President of Baseball & Softball Development, Major League Baseball said:
“The timing of this trophy tour aligns nicely with the launch of Major League Baseball’s inaugural ‘Girls Baseball Breakthrough Series’ in partnership with USA Baseball this weekend (Baseball World Cup Trophy Tour).
This development-focused camp is another step in the right direction for our sport — a direction that has, in many ways, been spearheaded by events like the Women’s Baseball World Cup.
We know that girls all across the world will become inspired by watching these great players this summer, which we hope continues the impressive growth of our sport.”
“USA Baseball has prided itself on providing an avenue for women to play baseball through the inception of our Women’s National Team program in 2004,” said USA Baseball Executive Director and CEO, Paul Seiler.
“This World Cup Trophy Tour will create unique awareness on the incredible female athletes from around the globe who will join together to compete for the title of World Champion in Viera in August (Baseball World Cup Trophy Tour).”
Eric Garvey, the Executive Director of Florida’s Space Coast Office of Tourism, said:
“The Space Coast community looks forward to following the trophy tour this summer as anticipation builds for the first WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup in the United States. Viera and the entire Space Coast are ready to welcome guests from around the world for this historic baseball event.”
