London, June 28, 2012: The World Squash Federation (WSF) confirmed today that the 2014 WSF World Masters Squash Championships have been awarded to Hong Kong, China.
To be held from 4-12 July 2014, the Championships will include men’s and women’s events in some 18 age groups for players aged from 35 to over 80. The announcement comes on the eve of the 2012 Championships, which will be staged in the English city of Birmingham from 20-27 July
The 2014 Championships will be staged at the Hong Kong Squash Centre and the prestigious Hong Kong Football Club, both located in heart of the city.
David Mui, MH JP, Chairman of Hong Kong Squash, stated: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring this fabulous World event to Hong Kong and are confident that players and spectators will appreciate the first-class venues and vibrancy of our great city.”
World Masters Squash Championships Hong Kong Event Director Malcolm Kerr added: “Masters Squash has fantastic worldwide participation and support. We expect to welcome around 1,000 athletes from more than 50 countries in 2014 for what will be a true festival of the sport. In addition to the excitement of competition we will be offering fun social events throughout the event, making this a week not to be missed.”
