National team announces for IBSF World Snooker

Karachi – Pakistan, Nov 3, 2013: According to the Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association, PBSA is pleased to inform that the resignations of the President, Alamgir A. Shaikh & Honorary Secretary, Munawwar Hussain Shaikh were not accepted by the Association in the meeting held on 1st November 2013. The Executive Committee of the PBSA asked them to continue while lauding their services. This meeting was in continuation with an earlier meeting held on 12th October 2013.

The following team for the IBSF World Snooker Championships – 2013 in Latvia from 27th November – 08th December 2013 was approved and announced:

1. Muhammad Asif (Player) Defending IBSF Champion 2012

2. Shahid Aftab (Player)

3. Imran Shahzad (Player)

4. Muhammad Sajjad (Player) IBSF World Team Champion 2013

5. Alamgir A. Shaikh (Delegate) To attend IBSF-AGM

6. Abdul Wahid Jetalsarwala (Team Manager)

The Executive Committee received the Manager’s Report of the recently concluded IBSF World 6-Reds & World Teams Championships – 2013 in Ireland from the Honorary Secretary, Munawwar Hussain Shaikh who lauded the players’ performances. The Executive Committee announced Cash Awards for Muhammad Asif and Muhammad Sajjad for their achievement for winning the IBSF World Team Championship for Pakistan. The players would be awarded Rs.100,000/- each respectively.

The Executive Committee approved the latest rankings (PRC) of the players after the Jubilee Insurance 3rd Ranking Snooker Championship – 2013. The Central Contract and the Ranking Policy (format of Play) for the year 2014 were also approved by the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee also finalized and approved the dates of the last ranking tournament on the PBSA calendar i.e., Langnese 4th Ranking Snooker Cup. The 4th Ranking Cup will be held in Karachi from 19 – 24 November 2013 and the Press Conference of this event will be held at Karachi Gymkhana on 18th November 2013

The audited accounts of the year ended June 30, 2013 were approved by the Executive Committee during the meeting.

The Executive Committee in recognition of the contributions of Tahir Ahmed, Managing Director -Jubilee General Insurance and Javed Ahmed, Managing Director – Jubilee Life Insurance, towards the promotion of the game, decided to make them Patron Members of the PBSA.
