Quaid-e-Azam Judo Championships 2012

Islamabad – Pakistan, Dec 25: The 1ST Quaid-e-Azam Judo Championship-2012 (Boys & Girls) is successfully organized on 25th December, 2012 at Shehbaz Sharif Sports Gymnasium Hall, near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, RAWALPINDI, under the patronage of Pakistan Judo Federation by Islamabad Judo Association.

The Organizing Association of the country i.e. Islamabad Judo Association beard all expenditures. Opening Ceremony of the Championship is performed by the honorable Mr. Waheed Khan District Sports Officer while Brig. Arif Mehmood Saddaqi, President, Islamabad Olympic Association was the Chief guest at closing ceremony. General Secretary, Islamabad Olympic Association, Col. Zafar had also accompanied him. The Technical Officials along with Referees duties were performed by the Pakistan National Women Judo Team through the Chief referee’s duty were complied by International Judo Coach, Mr. Sajjad Kazemi.

A total of 100 players, 65 Male Judokas and 35 Female Judokas of different weight categories including 30Kg, 35Kg, 40Kg, 45Kg, 50Kg, 55Kg and 65Kg have taken part.

Rawal Cadet College clinched the trophy by securing 155 points with 5-Gold, 3-Silver and 10-Bronze Medals in the Championship. Begonia raced up by taking Second Position after securing 45 points with 1-Gold, 1-Silver and 4-Bronze Medals while Liaqat Gym. Rawalpindi got the Third Position with 40 points by achieving 2-Gold and 1-Silver Medals.

Addressing on this occasion, Brig. Arif Mehmood Saddiqui, Chief Guest lauded the efforts of the Organizers i.e. Zareef Ahmed, President, Islamabad Judo Association along with Moindoeen Mehmood Tanooli, the event Organizing Secretary for holding 1st Quid-e-Azam Judo Championship in which teams from different parts of the city participated. He appreciated the disciplines adopted. He directed other unit members also to come forward and organize such events.
