The Maurice Grand Prix 2013-2016

Mauritius, July 13, 2012: The President of the International Judo Federation, Marius L. Vizer undertook an official visit to Mauritius with the Director of the Presidential Office, Vlad Marinescu in order to establish the Maurice Grand Prix 2013-2016.

During the visit, the President had meetings with many officials, among them with the Minister of Youth and Sport, Mr. Devanand Ritoo, the Deputy Prime Minister, Rashid Beebeejaun, Vice Minister of Finance, Xavier Luc Duval and the President of the Mauritius Judo Federation, Rashid Jhurry.

The results were positive and on the 11th of July the official protocol and cooperation agreement was duly signed.

As Vizer declared: “Mauritius is an ideal location to organize such an event as the Grand Prix, and the whole country will from now on stand among the great nations, which organize our events. It is definitely an advantage for Maurice and it will have, for sure, a positive impact on the development of judo in the region.”

“Due to the mediatisation of the IJF events, the organization of the Judo Grand Prix in Mauritius will also have some positive impact on the tourism and on the economy of the country”, added the IJF President.

Beside the official signature of the agreement for the organization of the Grand Prix, Vizer and his staff had also the pleasure to visit the Swami Vivekananda Center where the Grand Prix will be organized. On that occasion, he said that he was really pleased with the facilities and that with women adjustements, everything will be according to the IJF requirements.
