Brandon Vera to Defend ONE Heavyweight World Title Against Arjan Bhullar on 15 May

May 01, 2021: Singapore: ONE Championship™ (ONE), Asia’s largest global sports media property, today announced the full card for ONE: DANGAL, a tape-delayed event from the Singapore Indoor Stadium that airs on Saturday, 15 May.

In the main event, Filipino superstar Brandon “The Truth” Vera defends his ONE Heavyweight World Title against Indian wrestling champion Arjan “Singh” Bhullar. Other Indian athletes scheduled for action include atomweight phenom Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat, Gurdarshan “Saint Lion” Mangat, and Roshan Mainam.

Vera stated: “As a fighter, I think Arjan Bhullar is one of the top athletes in ONE Championship. He has a great wrestling background. His boxing is amazing. He has a dangerous overhand right. We’ve been training for him, taking notes, and just drilling. He’s very dangerous. He has great head movement, and he doesn’t mind staying in the pocket. If you get too close to him, he’ll grab your leg and take you down, and he’ll ground-and-pound you. I give him the utmost respect.”

Bhullar stated: “I’ve grown so much over the last year, and I think that’s going to be a huge difference in this fight. You have to give Brandon Vera credit.

He’s been around for a long time and faced the best of the best in this sport. He’s been the ONE Heavyweight World Champion for many years for a good reason.

Phogat stated: “It’s a very important fight for my career and I’m fighting an opponent with a very strong stand-up game. Bi Nguyen is also more experienced than me. I believe that through this matchup, fans will get to see me showcase my striking skills but also use my wrestling skillset to my advantage.”
