Army (Red), wins National Taekwondo

Karachi – Pakistan, Apr 16, 2014: Pakistan Taekwondo Federation with the kind hearted support of Maj. Gen. Rizwan Akhtar, HI (M), DG, Sindh Rangers organized National event in professional and befitting manners.

Sports festival of Taekwondo lasted for six days in Rangers Training Centre & School, Karachi in which 365 players and 35 officials from all over the country participated.

It is worth-mentioning here 6 x International Referees duly qualified from World Taekwondo Federation conducted this prestigious extravaganza. The main sponsor of the event is PEPSI and co-Sponsors are Shan, Omore, Aquafina, Naya Nazimabad, Stile and TPL Trakker.

It was mainly due to their sponsorship that a handsome Cash Prize was placed for First, Second and third positions respectively. Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani, HI(M), Corps Commander 5 Corps distributed the Medals and Cash Prize worth Rs.75,000/- to Higher Education Commission for 3rd Position, Rs.1,00,000/- to KPK for Second Position and Rs.1,75,000/- to Pakistan Army Champion of the event.

The Closing Ceremony of the event ended with Musical Programme and Demonstration of National Taekwondo Team which were highly appreciated by the huge number of spectators and notable of the Karachi City.

President Pakistan Taekwondo Federation also thanked for the Media for covering this ignored sport and paid tribute to PTV Sports for live telecast of the Opening / Closing Ceremonies of the event. He also mentioned that due to this event Pakistani Athletes will also do well in upcoming International Competitions.

Pakistan Army won this prestigious championship by getting 29 Gold out of 33 Gold Medals. In the last two events Ghazanfar Ali and Miss Maham Aftab from Pakistan Army won Gold Medals in their weights. The overall First three position Medal Detail is as under. —- By: Ubaid ur Rehman
