Official Emblem of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 unveiled

Zurich, July 10, 2019: FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) delighted to unveil the Official Emblem of the FIFA U17 World Cup Brazil 2019.

The emblem launch further sharpens appetites ahead of the draw, which will take place at the Home of FIFA in Zurich tomorrow, 11 July at 15:00 CET and will be live streamed on FIFA’s YouTube channel.

The emblem takes its inspiration from the country’s rich history and diverse landscapes, with a variety of distinctive elements coming together to form the shape of the tournament trophy.

The base evokes the lush green of Brazil’s natural scenery.

Sweeping vegetation leads the viewer’s eye past the intense reds of the Brazilian soil and yellowy orange of the country’s world famous gemstones towards a celebratory figure.

That figure, in turn, reaches towards a ball, the design of which inspires by the iconic curved columns of Brasília cathedral, a masterpiece by renowned Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.

Football is every bit as fundamental to Brazil’s identity as are its landscapes and history.

In addition to A Seleção‘s success on the pitch, the country’s experience as a host of global football competitions dates back almost 70 years to the 1950 FIFA World Cup™.

More recently, the nation staged the 2014 FIFA World Cup™, which saw almost 3.5 million fans pack out stadiums in 12 Host Cities around the country.

While recent major events held in Brazil have featured stars at the height of their careers, the FIFA U17 World Cup Brazil brings together the best young footballers in the world for a unique opportunity to showcase their skills on the international stage.

A string of big names – such as Fernando Torres, Gianluigi Buffon, Toni Kroos and James Rodríguez – have lit up the competition on their way to global fame.

Brazilian fans will be hoping to catch a glimpse of the next Ronaldinho or Neymar, who competed in the tournament in 1997 and 2009 respectively.

Moreover, with 24 teams participating, the football-loving locals are sure to be treated to a wide array of talent.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup will take place from 26 October to 17 November 2019.
