Successful session of FIFA Strategic Committee

Zurich-Switzerland-March 26, 2012: Successful session, With FIFA President Blatter chairing proceedings, the Strategic Committee met today at the Home of FIFA in Zurich to discuss a vast array of important issues relating to global strategies in football.

“The committee’s composition is symbolic and unique because it brings together so many of football’s stakeholders, including the confederations, member associations, clubs, coaches, players, leagues, FIFPro, commercial affiliates and broadcasters,” explained the FIFA President.

“It is an important forum of open discussion that embraces every different branch of football and develops joint strategies for the benefit of the game worldwide, such as the Football for Health programme.”

The main topics discussed were matters directly affecting the game, such as the composition of the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the protection of the game including the international match calendar, insurance of players and third-party ownership, as well as the need to find the right balance between the interests of clubs and national teams.

The report of the Strategic Committee will be delivered to the FIFA Executive Committee, which is meeting on Thursday and Friday at the Home of FIFA in Zurich. Image © Foto-net
