Lahore – Pakistan, June 26, 2012: Goal less, Pakistan missed the opportunity for AFC U-22 Championship-2013, Qualifier Group B when they could not score against their rival Sri Lanka in their group B game at Riyadh’s Prince Fasal Bin Fahad Stadium.
According to the press release issued here by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), Pakistan in their first half, open the match in an offensive manner and could not sustain it on a pass from Riaz Ahmed, Muhammad failed to capitalized it. Riaz Ahmed too could not convert the pass from Bilal.
In the tail end of the first half another opportunity missed by Riaz Ahmed on a pass from Adil, thus ended a first half. During the entire first half due to the attacking position of Pakistan team Sri Lanka adopted a defence posture, therefore but nothing to be achieved.
In the second half, Pakistan opened the game in its usual aggressive style. In the 75th minute of second half Adil of Pakistan won an opportunity for a free kick on behalf of its team but the ball shot the upper perimeter of the goal post and chance to secure the goal was lost.
In the 15minutes before the end of the game Pakistan team changed its strategy by including one more striker, thus culminated by giving Adil another chance for a free kick but the ball flew over the cross bar and all effort went in vain. In the last five minutes, Sri Lanka made a desperate offensive attack but our defenders throttled all their efforts.
Next match Pakistan will play against Kyrgyzstan on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at King Fahad International Stadium, Riyadh at 10:45 PM, PST. This will be a decisive match for the future placing of Pakistan.
