AFC VP Moya Dodd vows to help AFC MAs

Kuala Lumpur, July 30, 2013: AFC Vice-President Moya Dodd has vowed to work for the development of the game in the continent in her additional role as the co-opted member of the FIFA Executive Committee.

Dodd, who finished runners-up in the historic vote for a seat at the FIFA ExCo in May, was appointed as a co-opted member of the committee for a one-year term.

“Even though I ran second in the vote, I gained substantial support beyond Asia and I am very much looking forward to the opportunity given to me to serve on the FIFA ExCo,” she said.

The former Matilda said her aim would be to help the AFC Member Associations in strengthening the game.

“AFC showed faith in nominating me for this seat and it will be my duty to serve our MAs. There are many areas where our MAs need support and an additional voice at the world governing body will surely be a boost for our cause.

Dodd, who is also the chairperson of the AFC Women’s Committee, has chalked out a strategy to develop the women’s game in the continent.

“We are in the midst of finalising the Strategic Development Plan for women’s football and I am confident that its implementation will take Asian women’s football to new heights. “We have produced world champions in women’s football and it is our aim to spread the game in all the MAs.
