Fest for underprivileged girls in Nanjing
Nanjing: Dream Asia, AFC’s Social Responsibility initiative, has teamed up with the China Football Association (CFA) and China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSLF) to organise a three-day festival for underprivileged girls on the sidelines of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship here. The tournament will run from November 3 to 13 while the fest for girls will begin on November 3 and end on November 5.
The objective of the event is to raise awareness about women’s empowerment through football and guide the underprivileged girls into a life of harmony, mutual understanding and social cohesion. The event will also highlight AFC and CFA’s commitment towards social development.
Forty selected girls from underprivileged backgrounds will have an opportunity to participate in fun-filled football training sessions as well as healthy lifestyle and leadership development workshops. They will also mingle with former Chinese national players during an interactive football session on November 4.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the organisers at a press conference on November 2 at the Suti Tianyun Lake Sports Resort’s Yun Fung Hall at 1300 hours. CFA Vice President Mr Li Xiao Hua, AFC Social Responsibility Department Director Ingill Ra and CSCLF Deputy Secretary Li Xikui will attend the press conference.
