Karachi, Pakistan July 3, 2018: The PDCA has announced that Nihar Alam will lead a 16-member Pakistan Disabled Cricket team to England for a tri-series in Worcestershire.
The Pakistan Disabled team led by Nihar Alam left for UK on Wednesday at 11.30 am on a PIA flight. The tri-series also involving Bangladesh and England disabled squads begins from 8th July.
Pakistan will begin its campaign with a round game against England on 8th July.
Nihar Alam told the media in Karachi his team would make Pakistanis proud in UK and elsewhere.
“I am looking forward to this series and see the tri-series as a big challenge for us. As skipper, I am very confident that Pakistan team will produce positive results,” Alam added.
Coach, Muhammad Javed said although weather and playing conditions will be different in England but his players were keen to do well abroad.
“I think we are capable of winning the tri-series as the players have trained hard and some of them have experience of international cricket,” he said.
Javed promised his team would play positive cricket.
Faisalabad based Interloop who are well-known in the sports circles for their products is sponsoring the team’s participation in the tri-series with support from Pakistan Cricket Board and PIA.
Col.(R) Ijaz Nasir Special Assistant CEO of Interloop said his company was proud to sponsor the Pakistan Disabled team.
“We will continue our support in future as well for disabled cricket.”
Ameeruddin secretary of PDCA said that the Pakistan International Airlines officials, Sohail Jaffar, Abdullah, Tajwar and Rashid Zafar had played a big role in getting the airlines to also sponsor the travel of the Pakistan team.
He said as usual the ICRC had also supported the PDCA in making the tour possible.
He also thanked the cricket gear company, Matador who has provided the kits and equipments for the team.
Media Manager Muhammad Nizam also spoke to the media while Patron in Chief, PDCA, Saleem Karim and Director, Saleem Khatri were also present.
In the end the PDCA office bearers also appreciated the support and guidance provided by former test captain, Rashid Latif as President of the association. —- PDCA
