Chicago wins 3×3 World Tour Americas Masters

Mexico City, Sept 25, 2016: Chicago (USA) won the 2016 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Americas Masters – the last of seven Masters – after beating São Paulo DC (BRA) 21-13 in the final on 24-25 September 2016.

Both teams qualified for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Finalin Abu Dhabi on 24-25 September 2016.

Chicago won all five games in the imposing Perisur shopping mall and stretched their undefeated record to 22-0 since their 3×3 debut this summer.
Myke Henry and team-mate Stefhon Hannah scored 8 points apiece in the final while the highlight machine Alfonzo McKinnie had 5.

The 23-year-old Henry led all scorers in Mexico with 46 points and was named MVP of the tournament.

The athletic Leandro Lima had 5 points in the losing effort and finished second overall in scoring.

Local favourite Maurice Riddick (Mexico DF, MEX) established a new all-time record in the Perisur Shoot-Out Contest with 15 points, including all three money balls from the 3×3 logo.

US pro dunker Chris Staples set the mall on fire with some jaw-dropping jams at the TDN Dunk Contest, which included a 360 dunk between the legs over two cheerleaders and a one-handed scorpion dunk.

With the last Masters in the books, the 12 World Tour finalists are now confirmed.

Chicago joined Caguas (PUR), Novi Sad Al Wahda (UAE), Ljubljana (SLO) and Saskatoon (CAN) as the five teams which qualified by winning a Masters.

The other 7 finalists earned their ticket because they finished in the Top 12 in the World Tour season standings. They are: Gdansk (POL, 6th), São Paulo DC (BRA, 7th), Piran (SLO, 8th), St Petersburg (RUS, 9th), Hamamatsu (JPN, 10th), Kranj (SLO, 11th) and Belgrade (SRB, 12th).
