www.iaaf.org offers live results and blog in Spanish
The IAAF website www.iaaf.org has broken new ground by offering Spanish language coverage of the IAAF World Youth Championships, Cali 2015.

The championships are currently taking place in the Colombian city, having started on Wednesday (15) and they will end on Sunday (19).

For the first time at an IAAF World Athletics Series competition, the live results are available in Spanish and, for the evening sessions, there is also a live blog in Spanish which will bring you all the action in the Pascual Guerrero Stadium as it happens.

In the words of IAAF President Lamine Diack earlier this week, “Cali offers the perfect opportunity to raise the awareness of athletics in South America.”

Consequently, the IAAF anticipate this initiative will provide Spanish-speaking athletics fans, not just in South America but across the world, with the possibility of engaging with these championships like never before and with an enhanced ability to follow the fortunes of their favourite athletes.

There are an estimated 405 million native Spanish speakers in the world, second only to Mandarin Chinese speakers, and just ahead of English.

Recognising the huge opportunities to reach new audiences with this innovation, a similar initiative will take place at the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015, which will be held in the Chinese capital from 22-30 August, and where there will be live results and a blog in Chinese. —- IAAF
