Media accreditation and information – IAAF Congress and IAAF / IOC meeting

Monaco, Aug 13, 2015: The opening ceremony of the 50th IAAF Congress in Beijing, China takes place on Tuesday 18 August and will be followed by two full-day working sessions (Wed 19 / Thu 20 Aug).

Following IAAF Congress, as is traditional prior to every IAAF World Championships, the IAAF Council and the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will hold a joint meeting in Beijing, China on Friday 21 August, following which there will be held an IAAF / IOC Press Conference.

Media (written media, photographers and broadcasters) wishing to attend IAAF Congress and/or the IAAF/IOC press conference should make note of the following information:

MEDIA ACCREDITATION: IAAF CONGRESS and IAAF/IOC PRESS CONFERENCE
Media who are accredited for the IAAF World Championships:

NO NEED TO REGISTER – NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED.
Media who have successfully applied for accreditation for the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015 (22-30 Aug) have automatic access to the IAAF Media Room at congress and to the IAAF/IOC Press Conference provided they wear their accreditation card at all times.
Media who are NOT accredited for the IAAF World Championships:

REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
A limited number of access passes to the IAAF Media Room at congress and the IAAF/IOC Press Conference are available for members of the media who do not have an accreditation for the IAAF World Championships, Beijing 2015 (22-30 Aug). These passes are dependent upon pre-registration on a first come first served basis and the provision of the following information when applying:
– (1.) Applicant’s name
– (2.) Email address
– (3.) Mobile telephone number
– (4.) Name of media organisation representing
– (5.) Either (a.) national press card number or (b.) AIPS press card number or (c.) PDF of a signed letter from their editor/producer accompanied by a scanned copy of the passport of the applicant.
– (6.) Please confirm your attendance: either (a.) IAAF Congress or (b.) IAAF/IOC Press Conference or (c.) congress and IAAF/IOC Press Conference

IAAF CONGRESS
Wednesday 19 & Thursday 20 August

Congress working sessions are held from 0900 to 1800hrs both days. IAAF Elections take place on the morning of Wednesday 19. Further details of the daily schedule will be available in the week of congress
Media Accreditation gives access to the IAAF Media Room in the China National Convention Centre
There will be no media access to the IAAF Congress Hall
Delegates and media wishing to meet can do so in the ground floor foyer area of the China National Convention Centre

IAAF MEDIA ROOM
The IAAF Media Room is situated in the China National Convention Centre adjacent to the IAAF Congress Hall
Open from 0800hrs to 2000hrs on Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 August.
All working sessions of Congress including elections will be screened in the IAAF Media Room via live video link
Room facilities: Internet connection, working desks, press conference facilities, lounge area, refreshments

PRESS CONFERENCES/BRIEFINGS
IAAF Congress press conferences and briefings will take place in the IAAF Media Room as follows:
(1.) Wed 19 Aug – lunch break directly after IAAF elections have concluded
IAAF Press Briefing with newly elected IAAF President
(2.) Wed 19 Aug – end of first day’s working session
IAAF Congress Press Briefing – TBC
This briefing will be held dependent upon demand. If not held, an IAAF press release will in any case be issued confirming major decisions and discussions of the day
(3.) Thu 20 Aug – at conclusion of final working session
IAAF Congress and World Championships Beijing 2015 Press Conference

PRESS RELEASES
Press releases, including a news summary at the end of each day of congress, will be broadcast and there will be dedicated news coverage on the IAAF website and social media
(PLEASE NOTE – Tuesday 18 August: The congress opening ceremony and dinner takes place in the evening at the Great Hall of the People of China – it is by invitation only and there is no media access)

Please note – The Intercontinental Hotel is within easy walking distance of the Main Media Centre at the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest) consequently there is no media room organised for this press conference at the hotel.
